Silliman is once again the Center of Excellence in Nursing

Good news, Sillimanians!

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) has bestowed the distinction of Center of Excellence in Nursing Education to Silliman University for the fourth time.

Silliman got the highest rating so far during the recent evaluation conducted by CHED. This was based on the following criteria:

  • Institutional quality (45%)
  • Instructional quality (5%)
  • Research and publication (30%)
  • Extension services and linkages (20%)
And Silliman got a very impressive rating of 95%.

Congrats, Silliman!

Ay good grief! That is all AIR! I am a product of SU and a product of SUCN and I honestly believe that most of what you hear (that is good) about SUCN is all AIR!

all air? whoa, where have you been? there are requirements to meet in oder to pass the accreditation. if the committee is satisfied, u make it, simple..
i believe that a person makes or breaks himself..silliman has bestowed all it could, thanks to the idealistic instructors and rigorous training. after graduation, it is left to the professional to live up to the expectations of society, alumni and himself. u always have a choice!!

Where have I been?! I just graduated recently and I have undergone their “rigorous” training and I have to admit some of it has been helpful BUT not all is up to par with the changing times. Believe me, I know. I know what is needed for a college to pass the accreditation requirements but those are just the requirements. The accreditation team doesn’t sit in all the classes for the rest of the semester and so they cannot evaluate the teaching as best as one can. I was a student of SUCN but some of their teachings and teachers are NOT as good as what we have been made to believe. Better ask those who are currently students and you will see what I mean.

I am a Silliman and I am a “true red” Sillimanian but what SUCN has shown to their students is not up to par with the “Christian Education” that we expect them to teach.

what about all the ‘fees’ collected from every SUCN student every semester? where does all that money go? to Sinda’s catered staff/faculty meetings?

Unfortunately I cannot confirm those rumors.. however, the SUCNA fee has a breakdown and whatnot every semester but I doubt students go and check it out and just grumble… I never bother to go and look at the breakdown myself…
